Tomislav “JustX” Savov

If you regularly play KKPoker’s higher-stakes tournaments, you’ve probably seen the nickname JustX deep in the action.

Behind the nickname is Tomislav “Tommy” Savov, a 39-year-old professional poker player from Sofia, Bulgaria, whose fearless style and consistent results have made him one of KKPoker’s most recognisable regulars.

But his poker journey started long before anyone knew him as JustX.

School Games to Professional Poker

Like many players, Tommy first discovered poker with friends while still at school. What began as small games played for coins quickly became something much bigger.

“I started winning very often and became fascinated by how deep the game really was.” said Tommy.

Around that time, an old friend, who had become a professional poker player, offered to coach and stake him.

Tommy immediately accepted. However, at the time, he was working as a real estate agent, balancing work with long hours studying poker and grinding 6-max Sit & Gos.

The results came quickly, and although Sit & Gos provided the perfect learning environment, it didn’t take long before tournaments became his true passion.

“I started adding MTTs and was crushing them from the beginning. Eventually I quit my real estate job and became a full-time tournament player.”

Learning the Hard Way

Although tournament poker success arrived faster than Tommy expected, unfortunately, so did some difficult life lessons.

He openly admits that earning significant money at a young age led him to develop poor financial habits. He spent freely on nights out, treated friends regularly and eventually became involved in casino gambling.

“My biggest struggle in the beginning was learning how to deal with making money I’d only dreamed about so fast.”

Despite winning consistently at poker, Tommy found himself in debt. Rather than allowing that setback to define him, he made one of the most important decisions of his life. He completely walked away from gambling outside of poker and relied on the one thing he never doubted, his poker ability.

“What kept me going when I was in my biggest slump was the confidence in my skills and what I could do at the poker tables. I forbade myself from ever touching casino gambling, took a loan from my parents, and started playing for myself. I had to clear my debts, and after that, I kept getting better and better.“

From there, he rebuilt both his bankroll and his life. Today, he considers bankroll management one of the most important lessons any poker player can learn.

Becoming “JustX” and Joining KKPoker

Long before poker, Tommy was heavily involved in esports, competing in games such as Counter-Strike and DotA.

“My initial nickname was ‘X-Killer’, but later on I felt it was very childish so I changed it to ‘JustX‘ “

Years later, it’s become a name recognised by the KKPoker community.

Tommy joined KKPoker in 2024 after a friend invited him to play through the PokerHopper Club.

He quickly became a regular.

“My friend told me I’d love the KKPoker platform, and he was absolutely right.” added Tommy.

His first major highlight came when he won the $200 High Roller Bounty, a victory that still ranks among his favourite online memories.

More importantly, he feels KKPoker has given him something beyond tournament success.

“I’ve made new friends through KKPoker.”

He also admits one area where he’d still like to improve. Coming from an esports background where banter was common, Tommy says he wants to become an even more positive presence within the community.

Big Live Poker Moments

Away from the virtual felt, Tommy has built plenty of memorable stories. One of his favourites came at Lex Live in Bratislava.

With three tables remaining in the €550 High Roller, he found himself seated next to high-stakes star Sam Grafton.

The two biggest stacks battled repeatedly before Tommy won the decisive confrontation, eliminating Grafton to become tournament chip leader. Although he eventually finished third after making what he describes as a costly mistake three-handed, it’s still one of the proudest moments of his career.

Another unforgettable memory came at the Battle of Malta.

Holding a huge chip lead four-handed in a Progressive Knockout event, Tommy refused several deal discussions.

Eventually, reality caught up with him. His flight home was approaching, so he finally agreed to a deal, secured the biggest share of the prize pool, but had to flip for the trophy before sprinting to the airport.

The trophy escaped him. His flight didn’t.

Life Beyond the Tables

Despite poker being his career, Tommy spends surprisingly little time standing still.

He trains almost every day, mixing gym sessions with calisthenics, football, running, tennis, volleyball and padel.

He also enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, climbing and travelling throughout Southeast Asia. Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore all rank among his favourite destinations, while the Philippines sits firmly at the top of his travel bucket list.

One surprising achievement that many players don’t know about?

As a student, Tommy won third place in a national poetry competition and received his award from the Bulgarian president.

Not exactly what most people would expect from one of KKPoker’s most aggressive tournament regulars!

What Makes a Great Tournament Player?

Tommy believes three qualities separate elite tournament players from everyone else:

• IQ
• Discipline
• Dedication

He believes his own strengths lie in reading situations well and applying pressure.

“I’m naturally aggressive and I’m not afraid to make big plays.”

Ironically, the area he still wants to improve is studying.

“I know I should study more if I want to continue improving.”

Looking to the Future

Poker has taught Tommy much more than strategy. It’s helped him become calmer under pressure, more disciplined and more emotionally resilient.

His next poker ambition is clear.

“I want to win a major live tournament—hopefully one organised by KKPoker.”

Away from poker, he’s beginning to explore investing and business opportunities while planning an exciting new chapter with his partner.

“I’ve found an amazing girlfriend, and now we’re building our future together.”

Advice for the KKPoker Community

Tommy’s advice for aspiring tournament players is simple.

“Keep improving. Don’t give up. Study more, be patient and always respect bankroll management. The results will come.”

Those qualities, including discipline, resilience and continuous improvement, perfectly capture why Tommy has become the very first KK Crusher.

“Poker has taught me a lot. How to deal with high pressure, stress, and emotions. I became much more disciplined, which helped me in every aspect of my life. I became a much better version of myself because of poker.“

His story proves that success isn’t simply about winning tournaments. It’s about learning from setbacks, constantly evolving and never losing the desire to improve.

And perhaps one day, your own journey could earn you the title of KK Crusher.
