KKPoker is proud to announce Jason Chan as the latest Vegas Dream package winner heading to Las Vegas this summer!
At 45 years old and based in Prince Edward Island, Canada, Jason has spent the last 25 years building his poker journey.
From grinding tournaments across Canada to becoming KKPoker Player of the Year in 2025 and winning the KKLIVE New Brunswick title, Jason has steadily established himself as a respected and consistent player within the KKPoker community.
Now, after a decade away from Las Vegas, he’s preparing for another shot on poker’s biggest stage as part of the KK ELITE Team.
A Lifetime in Poker
Poker has been part of Jason’s life for over two decades. Like many long-term grinders, his journey has been built through experience, persistence, and countless hours at the tables.
Jason now plays regularly on KKPoker whenever his schedule allows. Over the years, KKPoker satellites and promotions have opened doors to bigger events and opportunities that may otherwise have been difficult to access.
That consistency paid off in a huge way when Jason captured the 2025 KKPoker Player of the Year title while also adding a KKLIVE New Brunswick victory to his growing poker résumé.
Jason’s path to the Vegas Dream package was classic tournament poker.
He admitted he entered the event somewhat casually, spotting what looked like a strong opportunity and jumping in late. Sometimes in poker, all it takes is taking a shot.
“I kind of joined max late registration as it looked like there was a good overlay,” Jason explained.
After some time away from Las Vegas, the Vegas Dream package now gives him the chance to return to the place where every poker player dreams of competing.
“It’s been 10 years since I have played in Vegas. It will be good to get back.”
Representing KKPoker on the Biggest Stage
For Jason, the moment he realized he had secured the package was one he won’t forget anytime soon.
“I got pretty excited. I woke up my wife, who was asleep at the time!”
It’s a reaction many poker players can relate to. After years of grinding, studying, traveling, and battling through variance, moments like these represent far more than just a tournament result. They validate the work players put into the game behind the scenes.
This summer, Jason will travel to Las Vegas as part of the KK ELITE Team, representing KKPoker alongside players from around the world. For him, the opportunity means a lot.
“It will be a great honor to represent KKPoker,” he shared.
Jason also credits the platform for helping him gain access to bigger events throughout his poker career.
“KKPoker has given me a lot of opportunities to play bigger tournaments through satellites.”
With years of live experience already behind him, this trip carries a slightly different feeling compared to previous visits. Instead of simply chasing results, there’s an added sense of pride in representing the community and brand that helped support his poker journey.
Building a Strong Foundation
When asked what skills are most important for beginners, Jason immediately pointed toward one of the most fundamental areas of modern poker strategy: preflop play.
“Knowing your preflop charts and what hands to play,” he said. “If you make a mistake here, it will carry throughout the hand.”
It’s advice echoed by many successful tournament professionals today. Solid preflop fundamentals create the foundation for every postflop decision, especially in tougher tournament fields where small mistakes quickly compound.
The Hand He’ll Never Forget
Like every experienced poker player, Jason has a few unforgettable moments burned into memory, and one very important superstition…
“I like to wear the same hoodie when I bag a tournament for the next day.”
As for his most memorable hand, it came during a deep run in a WSOP Circuit Main Event.
Holding A♠9♠ against A♣K♠ on an A-K-9 flop, all the chips went into the middle. Despite being behind, Jason found one of the two remaining nines on the river to stay alive.
“That hand set me up to take fourth place in the WSOP Circuit Main Event for CAD$155,000.”
Balancing Poker and Family Life
Away from poker, Jason keeps life relatively simple and family-focused.
“Usually doing family stuff,” he said when asked about hobbies outside the game.
Balancing poker with everyday life is something many players struggle with, especially when major tournament series are constantly running around the world.
Jason openly admitted it can be difficult.
“I always want to go play every WSOP Circuit series, mostly in Montreal and Calgary.”
Interestingly, poker is also deeply connected to his professional life away from the tables.
“My other job is being a table games and poker dealer, so I’m around it all the time.”
Being immersed in the casino environment daily has only strengthened his connection to the game.
Learning from the Best
Jason credits a major part of his development to studying training content during the COVID years.
One player in particular had a major influence on his growth.
“Jonathan Little. During COVID I went through his masterclass courses. Great instructor. Helped my game a lot.”
He also enjoys watching poker legend Daniel Negreanu compete.
“Daniel is fun to watch. I’m impressed he is still on top of his game since he is old school.”
Both players represent different sides of modern poker success: disciplined study and long-term adaptability.
Ready for Vegas
Heading into Las Vegas this summer, Jason’s goals are refreshingly straightforward.
“Just to have fun and play my best.”
After 25 years in the game, many experienced players understand that mindset is often just as important as results. The Vegas Dream experience is about more than chasing cashes. It’s about representing our community, embracing the experience, and competing against the best players in the world.
Jason heads to Las Vegas as part of the KK ELITE Team, carrying with him decades in poker, a true passion for the game, and the support of the KKPoker community.
