Kaan’s poker story goes back to 2005, beginning in the same way as many players, casually playing with friends before gradually taking the game more seriously.

Kaan built his experience through live games and consistent study, eventually becoming a regular in both casino and online environments.

“I’m based in Vancouver, Canada, and I’ve been playing poker for about 20 years. I actually started playing with friends, but eventually they stopped inviting me to the games, which I took as a sign to step things up.” said Kaan.

That turning point led him deeper into the game, moving into casinos and building a long-term foundation that still drives his approach today. His connection to KKPoker came through the poker community and close friendships within poker.

“Over time, I found KKPoker through the online community as my good friend Ryan Snyder introduced me, and I got more involved through satellites and promotions.”

In the main Vegas Dream satellite, and with just one opponent between him and the $12K package, Kaan entered heads-up play with a dominant chip lead, but quickly found himself in a battle that tested both his patience and composure.

“The toughest moment in the final Vegas Dream game was definitely heads-up. I had about an 8-to-1 chip lead, but my opponent played incredibly well and managed to come all the way back.”

At one point, the situation had completely flipped.

“I was down to around 6–7 big blinds. She even cracked my pocket jacks earlier in the match.”

Rather than panic, Kaan stayed disciplined, trusting his experience and approach.

“I stayed patient, stuck to my strategy, and didn’t panic.”

That composure paid off in the most fitting way possible.

“Eventually, I was able to rebuild my stack and, in a fitting moment, I won the tournament with pocket jacks to seal the victory.”

The Winning Moment

After a long grind and a dramatic finish, the reality of what Kaan had achieved took a moment to fully register.

“It was an amazing feeling, honestly a mix of excitement and disbelief.”

What made it even more meaningful was the journey behind it.

“Knowing the journey it took to get there, starting from a $20 satellite, made it even more special.”

Winning the Vegas Dream package doesn’t just mean a big prize, it means stepping onto the biggest stage in live poker as part of something bigger. Kaan will now represent KKPoker as part of the KK ELITE Team in Las Vegas, adding a unique team dynamic to an individual game.

“Being part of the KK ELITE Team is a huge honour. It adds a team element and support system that you don’t always have in poker.”

Having played in Las Vegas before, with cashes dating back to 2007, this experience still stands apart.

“It definitely makes the experience more exciting and meaningful compared to going on your own.”

Lessons From Experience

With nearly two decades in the game, Kaan’s approach to poker remains grounded in fundamentals.

Preparation for major live events is not about reinventing everything, but about sharpening what already works.

“Preparation is all about staying sharp, reviewing hands, studying spots, and making sure I’m mentally focused. Rest and discipline are also key going into long tournament days.”

For newer players, his advice is simple but consistent with what many successful players preach.

“Patience, discipline, and emotional control are huge. Understanding position, bankroll management, and decision-making fundamentals are also key building blocks.”

He also highlights one of the biggest advantages available to players today.

“Take advantage of satellites and promotions, they’re a great way to build your bankroll and gain experience.”
